Pada 27 hingga 28 Februari 2009 bertempat di Panggung Seni (DECTAR) UKM telah berlangsung Festival Senitari Malaysia UKM 2009 "Malam Gerak Gemalai" dengan jayanya. Festival ini adalah anjuran bersama Pusat Kebudayaan, Jabatan Perkhidmatan Pelajar, Aadyamaatra ARTISUKMA dan Kolej Ibu Zain. Festival yang berlangsung selama dua hari ini dimulakan dengan pertandingan tarian interkolej pada 27 Februari 09 diikuti dengan persembahan tarian dari universiti-universiti lain pada keesokan malamnya. Sebanyak 9 buah kolej telah mengambil bahagian dalam pertandingan tersebut. Setiap kolej dikehendaki mempersembahkan dua jenis tarian iatu kategori asli (zapin) dan kategori Kreatif. Kolej Burhanuddin Helmi telah berjaya mengekalkan kemenangan mereka pada tahun lepas dan sekaligus membuktikan kemampuan mereka dalam bidang tarian. Selain itu, Kolej Idris Al-Marbawi turut membuat persembahan buat kali pertama festival kali ini dan berjaya menarik perhatian penonton dengan persembahan kreatif mereka. Sebanyak 6 buah universiti termasuk UKM dan ASWARA telah membuat persembahan pada malam kedua. Antaranya ialah Universiti Teknologi Mara(UiTM), Kolej Teknologi Makmal Perubatan Kuala Lumpur, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) dan Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA).
