Synopsis
National Security System (NSS) Top 707 agents Hyun-jun and Sa-woo are blood brothers who swore to trust each other and unchanging friendship for life. They meet agent Seung-hee there and both fall in love with her. But Hyun-jun and Seung-hee become close and Sa-woo fights to hide his feelings for Seung-hee. One day, they are immediately sent on a mission to Hungary. When they successfully finish off their job with immaculate teamwork and are celebrating it, a message arrives to Hyun-jun asking him to meet in secret.

Baek-san, an executive of NSS who had been waiting for Hyun-jun orders a solo mission. Despite the tight protection of bodyguards, Hyun-jun succeeds his mission. But before escaping, Hyun-jun gets wounded by his targets’ head security bodyguards, and later he is shockingly betrayed by his most trusted friend, Sa-woo. Hyun-jun tries to escape with Seung-hee’s help, but he ends up losing Seung-hee. And his car also explodes; they are both misled into thinking that the other had died. Hyun-jun gets saved by an unidentifiable ‘Voice’ and learns the secret identity of a group called, ‘Iris’.

1 year later, with the two Koreas about to be reunified, Hyun-jun makes his return. After spending a nightmarish life of being betrayed and losing everything, Hyun-jun returns to get revenge on those who threw him into the living hell. With the help of the President, Hyun-jun returns to his post in the NSS. Starting a fight against ‘Iris’, the secret society that tries to interfere with reunification, Hyun-jun now puts everything on the line for the battle of his life.

Lee Byung Hun as Kim Hyun Joon

Kim Hyun Joon is a brilliant, cool-headed top spy who doesn't make error, who often takes on secret missions for South Korea's security agency, NSS. He falls into a 'fateful love' with fellow NSS teammate, Choi Seung Hee (Kim Tae Hee).

Choi Seung Hee is the country's top profiler. As a member Of NSS, she develops romantic storylines with 2 of her colleagues, Kim Hyun Joon ( Lee Byung Hun) and Jin Sa Woo( Jung Jun Hoo).

He is an elite agent working for the NSS. He always been reliably and precisely performing his assignments. He falls in love with Choi Seung Hee ( Kim Tae Hee) at the 1st sight. Then, he confronts his love rival, Hyun Joon although Hyun Joon is his good friend.

Kim Seung Woo as Park Chul Young

Park Chul Young is the former Chief of Security for Kim Jung Il and works for the National Defense Committe. He and Hyun Joon become both comrades and rivals when they work on removing the danger of war on Korean Peninsula.

Kim So Yun as Kim Sun Hwa

She is a North Korean secret agent and always exucuting orders from Park Chul Young (Kim Seung Woo). During the course of chasing Hyun Joon, She is influenced by him and finally decides to give up her loyalty to North Korea

TOP as Vic

He is member of secret organization 'IRIS'. He is a cold-blooded killer with a 100% shooting kill rate who has been ordered to kill Kim Hyun Joon.

"Iris" has a reported budget of over 20 billion Wons (1 USD = 1,200 Wons), making it the most expensive Korean drama to date (10/2008).
The series is a high-tech spy drama and will be filmed in various locations including Hungary, Russia, Japan, US, and China.
Actor Lee Byung Hun will make his first starring TV drama appearance since the 2003 SBS series "All In".
Actress Kim Tae Hee will make her first starring TV drama appearance sine the 2004 SBS series "Love Story in Harvard".
